| Girls' Night Out - Area Reports, Bookstore, and More | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Surrounded by tables filled with wonderful, exciting, colorful baskets donated by attendees, Areas, and guests, we shared Area reports. Area Team members have the chance to prepare a brief update about the happenings in their Areas, and the creativity of our ADCs really shine! Skits, songs, poems, and everything in between help us share what we’re all doing back in our respective home Areas. Wista Waldroop (Leader Workgroup) served as emcee and kicked things off with Kathryn Major and a skit about the Ad Council’s Breastfeeding Campaign and some potential risk-taking ideas for future PSAs (public service announcements). The USWD staff members then performed a skit about baggage—how it gets in the way and limits our ability to work together effectively. (This skit and more are available in a kit from Wista for only $15. Find it in Cool Stuff.) Throughout the evening, we sold tickets for the basket drawing. With so many choices, there were flavorful and fun items that appealed to everyone. Leaders put one or many tickets in the paper bags by each basket, and at the end of the night we drew the winners. The competition was steep over several huge baskets—from writing supplies, children’s books, knitting items and chocolate collections—it was a great fundraiser and end to the evening.
