"If it's fun, we planned it!" ...Patricia DuBray

A small and enthusiastic group of 5 ACE's (from AZ, NCA/HI, CO/WY, IN and MO) totally enjoyed participating in an event they had no part in planning. From the very first publicity, months ago, to the closing, they picked up helpful tips by observing closely how this meeting was organized. The networking was invaluable and being able to choose how and where they participated very much appreciated. We discussed how each might contribute to the future of the Events Department.

Spending time with each of the LLLI Board members, Jane, Heidi, LaJuana and Marcia and with Executive Director Hedy was a highlight on department day. Each was invited to join the ACEs separately so we could get to know them as individuals. They responded to some difficult questions in an honest & receptive manner. The face-to-face small meeting did a lot to build trust and show just how approachable each of these women are.

Elizabeth White has ended her USWD staff work after eight years and Californian Patricia DuBray has joined the staff events work group---without a clear job description or specified term! She will coordinate and create a flexible approach to getting the work completed. The most urgent concern is 100% completion of two bottom line items: budget and facility contract review. Contract review is being done nearly 100% of the time; budgets do not even come close to that, especially the final event financial reports. Patricia's fresh energy, thoughtful and assertive approach will be sure to yield a high success rate!
