Dear Waldenbooks,

Thousands of breastfeeding families, their supporters, and health care professionals around the world will participate in the Tenth Annual La Leche League International World Walk for Breastfeeding, to be held locally in Manhattan on Monday, August 7th. Our walk will be held during World Breastfeeding Week as proclaimed by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action in conjunction with the World Health Organization and UNICEF.

There is currently a La Leche League Group in Manhattan, offering free breastfeeding information and support to local families. volunteer Leaders provide free phone help and lead two monthly Series meetings. One of the first suggestions that La Leche League Leaders make is for hew mothers to purchase the Womanly Art of Breastfeeding, now in its sixth revised edition. This book has sold more than two million copies over nearly 40 years. It is with calm assurance that we can tell a mother over the phone that she can find this book at her local Waldenbooks.

Would you please consider mounting a book display in honor of World Breastfeeding Week during the first week of August? There are so many excellent books available now for the breastfeeding mother. By featuring them on a table or window you will be a visible support to all women who are breastfeeding, have breastfed, or plan to breastfeed their babies.

Enclosed you will find a notice for our local event. Also enclosed is a sponsorship form. Please consider making a contribution from your bookstore to la Leche League in support of educating breastfeeding mothers.
