LLL in the USA WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK CELEBRATION

Letters to Solicit Donations
Wal-Mart Letter
Summer 2006
Dear Wal-Mart:
We are asking Wal-Mart to support mothers and babies in our community again this year by matching pledges to La Leche League during our World Breastfeeding Week pledge drive. La Leche League is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization that provides information, education, support, and encouragement to mothers who want to breastfeed.
The first week in August is International Breastfeeding Awareness Week. La Leche League recognizes this by having a sponsored, one-mile walk to raise awareness as well as fund our local and national groups. Families from around the Magic Valley will meet to have a potluck, silent auction, and walk a mile on August 2.
The money raised will be used to reach mothers and babies in our community by providing breastfeeding information packets for all families attending childbirth classes in Twin Falls and Jerome throughout the year. The hospitals continue to use our information, as they said our information is “superior” to theirs. We hope to have the funds to continue this outreach. Additionally, we plan to provide similar packets to obstetric offices (OBs), as some mothers giving birth don’t attend childbirth classes. Local OBs have welcomed this idea. Your generous donation will also offset the cost of general information we share with mothers who attend our meetings or for follow-up phone help.
Please help us reach more mothers and babies in our community by matching pledges during our fund drive.
Sincerely,
Amy Peterson, XXX-XXXX
