Thrift Stores

One Leader says that she makes a bunch of money for her Group by bringing things to thrift stores. She has an account with a shop that gives her Group 50% of the money made from the items they bring in. They put special tags on the items so they know which ones are for LLL. This particular Leader not only gets things from family, friends, neighbors, etc, she also calls people in the paper who are having garage sales and offers to take their leftovers to the thrift store for them so she can make money for the Group. An idea would be for the Group to designate for the month of August all sales go towards the World Breastfeeding Celebration. With a little publicity (newspaper and radio announcements) people could take their unwanted items to the thrift store and donate them for LLL.

Thrift Stores are usually a better alternative than having a garage sale because things sell for a higher price at the stores, unlike a garage sale and the big bonus is that this is so much less work than having to spend at least a day or two prior to a garage sale just sorting and pricing the stuff.
